It’s St. Patrick’s Day in Deadwood, March 16-17. The Deadwood Chamber will host events during that time, including the first annual Leprechaun Olympics on Friday, March 16, and the pub crawl and parade on Saturday, March 17. We are currently looking for parade registrations! The parade will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, and is free to enter. It’s a great way to showcase your business, organization or your Irish spirit, to thousands of visitors on Deadwood’s Main Street.

Our annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration kicks off Friday, March 16th and continues on the 17th in Historic Deadwood! Stay tuned for more information but make sure to mark it on your calendars as it is sure to be a great time! The traditional Pub Crawl will take place on Saturday and new this year is the Leprechaun Olympics taking place Friday night. Details on both evens will be posted shortly!

In 2012, the Nemo 500 Outhouse Races move to the Days of ’76 Rodeo Grounds in Deadwood! All proceeds from the event will benefit the Days of ’76 Museum, the Nemo and Deadwood Volunteer Fire Departments.

The fun-filled day is Saturday, Feb. 25 and includes live music, children’s events, reenactments, a rib and chili cook-off, silent and live auctions and, of course, the outhouse races. The event is open to everyone, and those looking to enter an outhouse in the race should contact the Nemo Guest Ranch at 578-2708. They also have outhouses you can use if you don’t have one. Saturday, February 25 – Nemo 500 at Days of ’76
8-10 a.m.: Outhouse check-in
9-Noon: Toilet paper toss & outhouse horseshoes
10:30 a.m.: Deadline for outhouse check-in and inspection
11:00 a.m.: Shovel races for kids (please bring your own shovels)
11:00 a.m.-1 p.m.: Chili and rib cook-off and tasting
Noon: Live auction
12:15 p.m.: Mandatory captain’s meeting
12:30 p.m.: Live auction
1:30 p.m.: Outhouse races begin
Awards after race
All day: Silent auction

It’s the biggest party north of the Bayou! Here’s a schedule of events. Again, we are looking for Cajun cook-off and parade entries. Call the Chamber at 578-1876 to enter or for more information. And new this year, we will have more than $1,000 in cash and prizes for Friday night’s costume contest!

7 pm ~ People’s Parade on Main Street – This precursor to Saturday’s parade allows everyone to participate with music, beads, floats, costume contest, dancing and more.

FOLLOWING THE PARADE – Mardi Gras King & Queen Coronation – at Deadwood Mountain Grand. Prizes will be awarded for best Mardi Gras costumes and a king and queen will be crowned. Over $1,000 in prize money up for grabs.

9 pm ~ Live music – Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble will hit the stage at the Deadwood Mountain Grand!

2 pm – 4 pm ~ Cajun Cook-Off – A public tasting will take place with small donations encouraged for a local charity. Locations TBD. Want to enter your business in the Cajun Cook-off? Go to the bottom of this page for the form!

7 p.m. ~ DEADWOOD’S ANNUAL MARDI GRAS PARADE! Over 100,000 sets of beads will be thrown along the parade route, Deadwood’s Main Street – register your float today!
