The 20th Annual Deadwood Jam needs volunteers to staff a variety of shifts at this year’s two-day celebration of music in downtown Deadwood. Volunteers are needed to staff the gates (selling/taking tickets and issuing wrist bands) and work in the beer garden (you must be 21 or older to sell beer). Bands scheduled for the 2010 Deadwood Jam include John McEuen, John Eddie, Kory and the Fireflies, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Blood, Sweat and Tears and Collective Soul.

Volunteer shifts are as follows:
Friday, Sept. 17th:
3:00 PM – 9:30 PM (gates)
3:00 PM – 6:00 PM (beer garden)
6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (beer garden)
Saturday, Sept. 18th:
1 PM – 4:30 PM (gates)
4:30 PM – 9:30 PM (gates)
12:00 PM – 4:00 PM (beer garden)
4:00 PM – 7:00 PM (beer garden)
7:00 PM – 10:00 PM (beer garden)

Snap On ‘No Compromise’ Tour at Tin Lizzie
The Snap-On “No Compromise” Tour is coming to Deadwood’s Tin Lizzie for Kool Deadwood Nites, August 27-29. The tour is traveling across the country with products Snap On has to offer, including demos, displays and the newest technology – including two fully-equipped tractor trailers as well as other surprises, like the 1957 Glo-mad and the Snap-on Tool Orange County Chopper, built on the American Chopper television show. Four Aces to host Fuzzy Dice during Kool Deadwood Nites
Fuzzy Dice are coming out of retirement and to the Four Aces. The band, with their renditions of hits from the Doo Wop of the 50s, Groovy Tunes of the 60s, high energy of the 70s and a touch of the 80s, will be a crowd pleaser. Fuzzy Dice will perform from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27; from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28; and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29. DEADWOOD (8/18/10) — Kool Deadwood Nites, the region’s largest gathering of classic cars, free music and nostalgic fun, comes to Deadwood Thursday, Aug. 26 through Sunday, Aug. 29. This year Kool Deadwood Nites will feature free Main Street concerts by The Platters, and Sha Na Na, two of the biggest stars of the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Kool Deadwood Nites begins Thursday, Aug. 26, with registration from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Deadwood Gulch Convention Center. People’s Choice voting for early car registrants will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Deadwood’s History and Information Center Parking Lot, with results of the voting at 9 p.m. The 2nd annual Sock Hop will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., also in the History and Information Center Parking Lot. Prizes are awarded during the Sock Hop, and the public is invited to attend.

At 10 a.m. Friday, the Deadwood Rod Run, an escorted tour through Spearfish Canyon, begins. Car registration for Kool Deadwood Nites continues from noon to 7 p.m. An owners-only barbecue will be held in conjunction with the registration, at the registration center at the Deadwood Gulch Convention Center.

Friday’s free concerts on Main Street begin at 5 p.m. featuring the Kid & Nic Show and DD & The Fayroh’s, followed by Friday’s headliner Sha Na Na. This highly popular ’60s rock ‘n’ roll band released more than 40 albums, including the 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition in 2009. Sha Na Na’s songs – and band members – were featured in “Grease.” The group also played at Woodstock and had a hit television show for four years. They will be playing all the hits from the era.

On Saturday, Aug. 28, registration continues from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A classic car competition will be held, with judging from 8 a.m. to noon at the Days of 76 Rodeo Grounds, across from the First Gold Hotel. Poker runs begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. throughout Deadwood and the Black Hills. There will also be an art, memorabilia and classic car auction Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Open Cut parking lot in Lead.

Bands hit the stage once again Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday’s free concerts feature DD & The Fayroh’s, as well as The Rat Pack Tribute. Saturday’s headliner is The Platters. The Platters had a number of Top 10 hits, including “Only You,” “The Great Pretender,” “Twilight Time,” “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” and many more.

On Sunday, Aug. 29, the classic car parade, a crowd favorite, will be held. Cars begin lining up at 7 a.m. at the Days of 76 Rodeo Grounds and the parade will begin up Main Street at approximately 9 a.m. After the parade, all cars will be on display on Main Street for a show-and-shine. The weekend’s award ceremony will be held at the History and Information Center Parking lot beginning at 11 a.m. There’s also another art, memorabilia and classic car auction on Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Deadwood Gulch Gaming Resort.
