Christmas Festival at the Bad Lands Complex – Head to the Bad Lands of Deadwood – 604-622 Main Street – for a Christmas Festival this holiday season! Deadwood Cowboy Christmas Ball Dec. 14 This old-fashioned cowboy dance at the Deadwood Mountain Grand highlights some of the Black Hills’ best performers playing everyone’s favorite holiday songs. The matinee (doors open at noon with performance beginning at 1:00 p.m.) includes a special visit from Santa Claus. The evening performance features live and silent auctions, heavy hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, the National Finals Rodeo on big screens, musical performances and a cowboy dance. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with the event beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Deadwood Mountain Grand. Tickets are $10 for the matinee; and $30 per person or $200 for a table of eight for the evening performance. All proceeds benefit Deadwood History. Holiday tours of the Historic Adams House The historic home will be elegantly dressed in Victorian holiday finery during the Christmas season. Sing-A-Long Dec. 19 at Deadwood Gulch Bring the whole family to the Deadwood Gulch Convention Center on December 19 for a Sing-A-Long, led by Les Karas. Lead Opera House Kicks Off Festival of Trees with Holiday Jam Concert The Historic Homestake Opera House on Main Street Lead will host its 31st Annual Festival of Trees Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7, 2013.
This year’s Festival of Trees will kick off at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 6, when Santa Claus will make a special visit, posing for free professional pictures with children and pets. Additionally, while patrons are perusing the beautifully decorated trees, they may also enjoy a Holiday Open Mic session, as well as cookies, coffee and hot cocoa.
Then, at 7:00 p.m. Off-the-Cuff Stuff of Sioux Falls announces the popular Holiday Jam with the Hegg Brothers. Musical powerhouse Allison Nash will also join the group this year. For more information on the history of Holiday Jam, performance photos and music samples, go to holidayjam.com.
On Saturday, December 7 the fun will continue from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Holiday Open Mic session will be featured at 4 pm, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available. Santa will once again visit for free professional photos. At 7:30 p.m., the opera house will host the 2013 live auction of the trees, wreaths, and unique items.
Admission to the Festival of Trees at the Historic Homestake Opera House is by donation, or by bringing a non-perishable food item for the Lord’s Cupboard Food Pantry, and also pet food for the Twin City Animal Shelter. Donations and proceeds from the Festival of Trees will benefit operations at the Historic Homestake Opera House.
Admission for the Friday night Holiday Jam with the Hegg Brothers is $50 for limited premium seating with dinner at the Bumpin’ Buffalo restaurant on Main Street in Lead; or $25 general seating in advance; $30 on the day of show.
