It’s hard to believe I know, but it actually feels like spring this week in Deadwood. I’m not sure what the groundhog from Pennsylvania was looking at, because it sure is nice in these parts. (Yes, I realize the season is likely to change back to actual winter, but we are surely enjoying this while it lasts!)

Some motorcycles are shaking off some dust and making the trek through Boulder Canyon and down Main Street in Deadwood, and avoiding most of the puddles of course. After all, it takes some time to melt 120 inches of snow! But I can actually see the grass on the Boulder Canyon golf course. While in Rapid City yesterday for the Stock Show, there’s very little snow to be seen. I was in Rapid to work the popular Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo, which is a 10-day event that attracts thousands upon thousands of people, and watched the timeless Sawyer Brown perform. I’ve seen the group a handful of times, and each time they impress me more and more. They’ve been touring for over 25 years, and they have the same enthusiasm they did the first time I saw them. Before last night, I saw them a few years back during Deadwood’s Wild Bill Days. They are definitely a crowd favorite.

And as far as poker, well, there’s a traditional tournament held annually on Super Bowl Sunday at the Silverado. And what can I say, they have good food and a grand bar area. And while I didn’t have a favorite team to root for come Sunday evening, it was a great game to watch.

Hope everyone is doing well! And don’t forget about MARDI GRAS! It’s shaping up to be quite the weekend…

Until next time,
Lee
