It seems like just yesterday when a large tree fell on my U-Haul trailer. And now, here we are in 2009 — and almost an entire month into 2009.
This past weekend was a busy one in Deadwood, and I had family in town to take advantage of great temperatures and fun crowds. While the machines weren’t quite in my favor, it was great to see the community bustling in the middle of the winter. Temperatures topped out in the upper 40s, but the snowmobilers were out and about, and both Terry Peak and Mystic Miner Ski Resorts were hubs of activity. I can attest, this is truly the best snow the area has seen in at least a dozen years.
We are gearing up for Mardi Gras, Feb. 19-21, here in Deadwood. While we are quite a few miles from New Orleans, Deadwood does a darn good job in transforming into a Mardi Gras celebration. Two parades, a cook-off, music, and I’ve even heard rumblings of a cake bake-off is in the works — if you haven’t seen Deadwood during Mardi Gras, you owe it to yourself!
Back to work for me — talk to you soon.
