I commend the city of Deadwood and all the efforts that have gone into historic preservation. $7 million is quite impressive. How do you generate the support for this? I know here in Mesa, Arizona, we are fighting for the same type of preservation. We go to city meetings and talk to the city council about our efforts. However, many times our hopes and conserns fall of deaf ears, or their promises don't make any progress once we leave their presence. Mesa and the neighboring city of Lehi have a unique history of pioneer heritage that is important to preserve. However, it seems as if the interests of the persuasive developers are always weighed above our links to our past.
